So the City of Heroes/City of Villains Halloween event is upon us once again! This year, the new thing is a Trick or Treat tip mission and a bunch of badges you can get from them.
I think after all that is done, the most important part (to me at least) is that this is a great time to quickly level up that hard-to-level-up (for whatever reason) character. People are just more receptive to form teams because of the event, and all you do is just park and click on doors, which cuts down on travel time in between missions. Thats how I got Annzilla and Theophelia through their leveling slumps years ago.
My dilemma is who to level up now? (other than my current Tanker project, Anwyn)
I think I am leaning towards working on my Plant/Rad Controller, Ambrozia. I tend to have a hard time leveling up Controllers or Doms since their low level game really do not fit my playstyle at all.
Or should I roll a totally new toon?

Rebuilding a Cheaper Anwyn, WP/EM Tanker
Anwyn is currently at level 44 now and after spending some time playing with her, I've decided to just outfit her sparingly with a no more than a 200 million INF buy it now build. Though in truth, she will probably fall under 100 million influence to outfit..
The reason I've decided not to spend too much INF on her is because I did not enjoy playing her as much as I thought I would. Willpower is a nice tanker set, but Energy Melee sucks in my opinion. I really hate the secondary effect of disorient that most of its attacks have. Sure it helps in the mitigation, but its annoying as hell to disorient half the group and have them stumble away from your carefully formed pile. This sucks most especially when I solo, which is about 90% of the time now.
I've also been playing Zazza and Tropica quite a bit so I've been really spoiled with them in terms of survivability and damage and have been using them as comparison in terms of what I like to see in my characters. Anwyn will probably be one of those that will be shelved after shes level 50 and fully slotted.
As for the new build, when you compare it to the previous one, it has just about the same stats in terms of survivability, but is lacking recharge and accuracy bonuses that the previous build had.
Much like how I feel about Ms Ann, if I could do it over, I'd probably choose Fire or Elec as a secondary for Anwyn. Those melee sets fit the bill in terms of what I am looking for in damage output and to build a min/max toon. But like I said before, I created Anwyn the way she is because I had enjoyed EM on Cumbustidoll (my blaster) and I wanted to check out the tank version. After this experience, I don't think I would choose Energy Melee again, at least not for a tank or brute.

Zazza, Electric/Shield Brute at Level 50
I actually leveled up Zazza just a few days after getting Tropica to 50. I just didn't write much about her because I was still fiddling with her build and was in the midst of getting Tropica all slotted up.
But now that Tropica is mostly all set (she just needs 1 more LOTG recharge), I can finally focus my attention on Zazza.
For Zazza, I am definitely soft capping her Melee, AoE, and Ranged defenses. Shield Defenses is a set that seems to lend itself well to doing that without too much sacrifices.

The build with just common IO's is extremely endurance heavy with all those toggles and leaves her pretty drained after 2-3 attacks. Its still fun, but she would need a kin or someone to support her due to the endurance issues. The combination of Lightning Rod and Shield Charge will annihilates everything around her but it will also leave her gasping for breath. But once all the spiffy IOs are in......
It doesn't look too expensive, right?
Her build is definitely under the 2 billion "buy it now" price tag, but then again, prices seem to be dropping across the board so, it might even be cheaper now. I am nearly finished with her IOs (but I'm missing a few different LOTGs). After slotting her up, the pre-IO and post-IO play is like night and day. She does pretty well against +3x8 "easier" enemies like council, but can struggle with the tougher enemies like Arachnos even at +0x8.
I did have an older version of this build. The difference is that in her old build, she had only one Membrane HO on Active Defenses which was not recharging fast enough for me (granted, I am still missing 3 LOTG recharges), so I modified her new build to include a second Membrane for a sure bet. And that's about the only problem I have with her right now... is when AD drops, she's usually screwed, but that should be fixed as soon as I run a respec trial and get that extra slot in.
Overall, I am super pleased with how she plays and just dominates the hell out of everything. I run a whole lot of speed TFs so she has been quite helpful in them.

Server Problems Since 10/5/2010
I've been having some bad problems since the 10/5/2010 patch. I'm not sure what they did aside from the patch notes, but I've been laggy and rubberbanding waaaaaay more than usual. Its near unplayable at times.
This leads me to say.. I need to upgrade my computer. It hasn't been touched since 4 years ago when I built it.
Right now its running with the AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ at 2.01 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, and the NVidia GeForce 7900 GS.
I hate looking up the hardware because I get so tempted to buy a whole bunch of stuff I can't afford right now. I'm probably going to spend $100 on getting better RAM and probably put the old RAM into my other comp (so it would be able to play Sims 2). If you have any other suggestions on a single cost effective upgrade, do tell.
At the very least, since my gaming computer is also my work computer, that I can write this off as a business expense.
In other (game related) news.. they finally posted up the Issue 19 Overview. It looks pretty neat so far. Hopefully it will be out by the end of this year. Also... Reactivation Weekend starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday. I'll only get 1.5 days to play since I have one of my best friend's wedding this weekend. I'm only excited about it because my brother's account will be reactivated, and now that I have a bunch of characters that can run at +2x8 settings, I will be spending most of my time in AE getting myself powerleveled. The way I'm going to do it is get my characters in a level pact with my brother's character, log on to my main farmer and level up my brother's character. That way, I make inf/recipes/salvage on my farmer, my brother gets his character leveled up, and so will I.... its a win-win-win!
